Skin and bone, the haunted stares
Is proof enough, that no one cares
Thousands of shoes, a mountain of hair
Holiday suitcases, going nowhere
Pain and indignity, how much can they bear
Oh dear lord, are you there?
Many lost lives, so we could be free
Ordinary people, like you and like me
Another new year and the bell tolls
Keep in your thoughts, all the lost souls
Auschwitz lives on, so we never forget
Men, women and children we’ve not even met
Keep them alive in your heart and your mind
Seventy years on, for all of mankind.
Dedicated to all who were brutalised or lost their lives and to those who fought to free them.
